5 Most useful accessories for your Vac Truck

Vac trucks are great for when you need to remove unwanted material from an area, such as water from pools or dirt surrounding utility assets. Vac trucks are commonly used for jobs such as:

  • Oil and water removal
  • High-pressure jetting
  • Liquid delivery to sites
  • Dust suppression
  • Industrial sludge removal
  • Safe water disposal
  • ...and much more!

Vac trucks are an excavation site favourite with over 17 types of attachments to get the job done. Here are 5 of the most useful and common accessories used with a vac truck.

1. Hydraulic Boom

Commonly seen during hydro excavation, the hydraulic boom attachment is designed to provide stability and increased hose length during boom extension. As a remote controlled attachment, the hose is able to reach more confined spaces without the operator having to worry about getting caught up in the action.

2. Hose reels

Hose reels are the perfect portable solution to provide extra length and serviceability for your vac truck. Often fitted to the back of the vehicle, hose reels are used for multiple purposes. Solution hoses are compact and used for tasks such as carpet cleaning or general water spray, whereas vacuum hoses are designed for the more heavy-duty suction jobs, providing up to 15metres of hosing.

3. Skid mounts

Skid mounts are used to mount either dual compartment vacuum tanks or vacuum pump waste tanks to the vac truck’s chassis, providing additional pump or compartment space for your more specific job requirements. Dual compartment vacuum pumps feature waste and water compartments with a hose reel for more tight access work. Whereas the waste tanks can transport up to 1000gallons of material waste for those large-scale jobs.

4. Hook lift

Hook lift attachments are mounted to heavy duty vehicles and are generally designed for the transportation of materials in the waste, recycling, scrap and demolition industries. The chassis mounted ensembles can be used for filling, spraying and transporting liquid waste. Hook lift systems add a range of capabilities to the vac truck, such as ground level loading and unloading with complete in-cab operation.

5. Reverse camera

Reverse cameras on trucks are a bit more heavy-duty than the one installed in your car! Industrial reversing cameras are built specifically for the vehicle they’re intended for - they are heavy-duty systems designed to withstand harsh conditions (such as weather change) and are durable to suit rough outback roads in Australia.
